Jesus enters Jerusalem to shouts of praise from an excitable crowd. They call him the “King who comes in the name of the Lord” with the hope that he will save them from Roman rule. But he had warned them all along that his call wasn’t what they expected, and his hope was in God who wouldn’t abandon him and who had never abandoned his people. Our hope is in Jesus who “emptied himself of all but love” and gives us hope of eternal life by dying on the cross.
