It has been years of struggle as the Israelites are settling into the new land that God has promised. Many times along our journey, we stop and take stock. We take time to renew our commitment to God – to remember our covenant with God and each other. Now that they have crossed over, they will remain in this new place. Giving thanks to God is a key part of how we respond to God. For families, Thanksgiving is prime time to slow down and be together, but even more, it’s an opportunity to remember God’s faithfulness. We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Baptism as an act of remembering and renewing our covenant with God.
