Welcoming All, Empowered by Christ, Sent Forth to Serve

February 2, 2014 message: “Genuine Hope, Hard Truth”

If you missed this week’s message by guest speaker, Naomi Garcia, check out the media and short summary below to learn more:

12“Look at it this way.  If someone has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders off, doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine and go after the one?  13And if he finds it, doesn’t he make far more over it than over the ninety-nine who stay put?  14Your Father in heaven feels the same way.  He doesn’t want to lose even one of these simple believers.  Matthew 18:12-14 (The Message)

Long ago the Lord made a road through the sea, a path through the swirling waters.  He led a mighty army to destruction, an army of chariots and horses. Down they fell, never to rise, snuffed out like the flame of a lamp!    But the Lord says, “Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago.  Watch for the new thing I am going to do.  It’s happening already—you can see it now!  I will make a road through the wilderness and give you streams of water.  Isaiah 43:16-19 (Today’s English Version)

God has great things planned for Lake Harbor United Methodist Church.  The truth is that we have not always nurtured the seedlings God has given us.  We have not always been God’s hands.  We have allowed God’s children to stray.  Just as the three different generations in La Luna (The Moon) found the right tool to get their jobs done, we too must let go of the past and find the right tools to use today.  This is what it means to be a church today.  Take a moment to reflect as you hear Joanna Boyce’s You Are My Hands and watch the accompanying images.
