“A Joyful Noise: Sow Joy, Reap Harmony” October 2-26 (4 weeks)
“Living Life Backwards” November 2-23, 2025 (4 weeks)
We’re called stewards of God’s good gifts in our lives and of all God’s creation. Sometimes we understand stewardship as a duty, but God invites us to understand stewardship as a joyful expression of our faith. And the joy of giving generously leads to a bountiful harvest.
Keeping the end in mind shapes how we live our lives in the here and now. Living life backward means taking the one thing in our future that is certain – death – and letting that inform our journey before we get there. The book of Ecclesiastes shakes up our expectations and priorities for what it means to live “the good life.” Considering the reality of death helps us pay attention to our limitations as human beings and receive life as a wondrous gift from God – freeing us to live wisely, generously, and faithfully for God’s glory and the good of his world.
The worship brainstorming will be held at Mertz’s house. We’ll share dinner at 5:30 p.m. Rob and Kathy are hosting a baked potato bar. They will supply the potatoes and toppings, wine, and pop. Please bring a salad, fruit, veggie, dessert, or other dish to share. Brainstorming is from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Sign up at church or contact the church office (213-798-2181 or Office@LakeHarborUMC.org) or Karen Booth. Please read the Scripture and message synopses and preview the videos before we gather if at all possible.
