The Bible is quite willing to extol heroes. Some of those people did highly lamentable and sinful things, but we honor them, as we honor all heroes not because they did things that deserve condemnation but despite the fact that they did them. How can their courage, fortitude, sacrifice, and above all, faithfulness, inspire us? We’ll use three recent films as part of the series.
The Israelites wandered through the wilderness in search of the Promise Land. Like the Israelites, we can feel like we are in a spiritual wilderness. God seems to be absent. We spend ages wandering around alone, going nowhere. And we might even start whining about “the good old days.” How do we learn to see our times in the wilderness as important times when our faith is tested and strengthened?
Join us at 5:30 pm for a potluck dinner at Diane Thompson’s house. Diane is grilling chicken. Please bring a dish to pass. RSVPs are helpful but not mandatory.
