January 18, 2026: “Creative Nonviolence”

Jan 4, 2026 | 0 comments

Jesus calls us to turn away from violence as a means to engage conflict and instead seek change without resorting to violence, and absorbing hostility with nonviolent defiant action and responding with grace instead of anger. Nonviolence is an agape love-centered way of thinking, speaking, acting, and engaging that leads to personal, cultural and societal transformation.

This is the third week in our series, “The Nine Key Teachings of Jesus.” Today’s message is based on Matthew 5: 38-42, Romans 12: 9-21, Martin Luther King’s “Prayer at Midnight,” and the fundamental tenets of nonviolence from the King Center.
