Proverb: Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. (16:18)

Pride (but not arrogance) is usually a positive trait. We take pride in our abilities and accomplishments; feel a sense of pride in a job well done or in a group of people that we identify with. But pride is the root of so much other evil. Pride makes some of us think we are above the law, that rules do not apply to use, or that we simply cannot fail. How can we cultivate humility rather than allowing pride to take hold?
